AUSTIN, Texas—The Archive of the Indigenous Languages of Latin America (AILLA) has launched its redesigned repository and website marking a significant milestone in its mission to preserve and promote indigenous languages and cultures. AILLA has long served as a vital resource for both speakers and researchers, providing a platform for the documentation and dissemination of linguistic and cultural heritage.
The University of Texas Libraries recently recognized a group of student scholars for their engagement with the innovative Black Queer Studies Collection. The Monica K. Roberts Graduate Award and the Hogan/Schell Undergraduate Award honor outstanding student scholarship and creative projects in the field of Black Queer Studies.
ONE OF THE PARTNERSHIPS that emerged from the LLILAS Benson Mellon-funded project “Cultivating a Latin American Post-Custodial Archival Community” involved extensive collaboration with EAACONE, Equipe de Articulação e Assessoria às Comunidades Negras do Vale do Ribeira, located in Eldorado, Vale do Ribeira, São Paulo, Brazil.
Visitors to the Scholars Lab in the Perry-Castañeda Library on April 15 and 16 were met with an array of posters showcasing the scholarly endeavors of a group of exceptional undergraduates. The posters were created by participants in the McNair Scholars program, presenting a window into the research pursuits of low-income, first-generation students aspiring for advance degrees at UT.
The University of Texas Libraries, in collaboration with the Senate of College Councils and the Natural Sciences Council, has announced its selection of three distinguished educators as Affordable Education Champions for the year 2024. The honored faculty are Dr. Michael Aubrey, Dr. Jose Alvarado, and Dr. Emily Que.
The University of Texas Libraries and the Center for Skills and Experience Flags in the Undergraduate College celebrated the 2023 Undergraduate Writing and Research Awards on April 4, 2024.
The event was co-hosted by Dr. Lorraine Haricombe, Vice Provost and Director of the UT Libraries, and Dr. Richard Reddick, Dean of the Undergraduate College, with honors presented to the recipients of the UT Libraries' Signature Course Information Literacy Award and the Center for Skills and Experience Flags' Writing Flag Awards.
Texas Digital Library announces Dr. Patricia Hswe as the opening keynote speaker at the 2024 Texas Conference on Digital Libraries.
Dr. Hswe is the Program Director for Public Knowledge at the Mellon Foundation. In this role, she leads the program’s work on a range of grants and initiatives supporting libraries, archives, museums, universities, presses, and other institutions that further the world’s collective knowledge of the humanities.
