University of Texas Libraries Revised Operations

Updated January 5, 2022

The University of Texas Libraries is aligning its operations with The University of Texas at Austin’s response to the rapid development of COVID-19 cases and subsequent public health impacts in recent days. There will be a temporary contraction of services and spaces at the Libraries in order to reduce user density onsite, to manage essential staffing levels and to allow for a re-expansion of access to digital resources for an abbreviated period.

The following operational changes are being implemented:

  • The second floor (entry level) of the Perry-Castañeda Library (PCL) will be the only Libraries’ location open to users through January 30. All other library locations and other floors of PCL will remain closed until January 31, at which time they will reopen on the regular spring schedule.
  • HathiTrust will be available to provide online access to much of the Libraries’ print collection.
  • Eligible materials from all Libraries’ locations can be requested online for pickup at PCL.
  • On Tuesday, January 18, PCL building hours will move to a 24/7 schedule and the PCL Desk will begin spring semester hours.

As has been the case throughout the health crisis, Libraries’ policies and operations are subject to change based on operational changes or directives from the university. Please check back often to get the most up-to-date information about your Libraries.
