"Black Classicists in Texas" is a free public exhibition that tells the story of early educators of color in Central Texas who were passionate about studying antiquity. This project is a collaboration between multiple institutions, including the UT Department of Classics, University of Texas Libraries, the Black Diaspora Archive at the LLILAS Benson Latin American Studies and Collections, Downs-Jones Library at Huston-Tillotson University, and the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center. The exhibition takes place across three sites in Austin and is united by a comprehensive website that explores a vibrant community of scholars, students, and public intellectuals.
