Since 1977, the cost of required materials such as textbooks has increased over 1,000%, more than 3 time the rate of inflation. The average student cost of textbooks is $900 a year. The Open Education movement aims to reduce or eliminate these outrageous costs by providing students and educators with access to free, quality, educational materials so students can stop worrying about how much their books cost and can get back to thinking about their actual education. This exhibit intends to increase awareness about Open Education, Open Educational Resources, and how these resources can be adopted and used in our modern and ever-changing educational system.
