POSITION AVAILABLE: January 16, 2018. Position is subject to renewal each semester.

WORK SCHEDULE: Hours will vary depending on schedules and needs semester by semester for a total of 20 hours per week. Regular evening and weekend hours required.

- Provide patrons with basic in-person, phone and email reference service utilizing Benson resources (written in English, Spanish and Portuguese) and other resources as needed.
- Database searching including library catalog, OCLC WorldCat, specialized databases for research in Latin American Studies (LAS) and U.S Latina/Latino Studies.
- Provide backup for circulation staff.
- Supervise the Benson Latin American Collection, including student circulation staff.
- Some evening and weekend hours included.
- Perform library opening/closing routines.
- Work on projects related to Benson special collections.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.

- Graduate student in the School of Information or Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies, Center for Mexican American Studies, or working on another degree focusing primarily on Latin America or Latinos in the United States.
- Enrolled for at least nine [9] semester hours during the fall and spring semester and three [3] semester hours during the summer session.
- Student must be in good academic standing.
- Demonstrated strong customer service experience.
- Library catalog and other online database searching experience.
- Must be punctual and maintain a consistent work schedule.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills (written and oral), and ability to communicate library policies and procedures to library users.

- Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese (read, write, speak).
- Knowledge of or travel in Latin America.
- Library reference experience.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Ability to use good judgment and follow through independently.
- Superior customer service skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Regular indoor work environment.

SALARY: $1,063 per month. In-state tuition. Some benefits apply. TRB is not available for this position.
