Celebrating the Life

A service program for students, by students will have a new home in the Perry-Castañeda Library (PCL) beginning Wednesday, November 14.

SURE Walk — an agency Student Government at The University of Texas at Austin — is a student-run volunteer group that provides walks to and from campus to students, faculty and staff of the university, with the help of both male and female student volunteers selected from university sanctioned organizations across the campus.

SURE Walk will be moving its operations from the Student Activity Center to the library as a result of increased activity due to the recently expanded 24-hour, 5-day service at PCL, but otherwise services will remain the same.

SURE Walk is offered Monday through Thursday from 10 p.m. – 2 a.m. during the fall and spring semesters.  When a walk is requested, either by phone (512-232-9255) or email (, two volunteers — one male and one female — are dispatched to the requester’s current location to provide an escort to another location on campus or in the greater campus area.

Student Government and SURE Walk volunteers will host a kickoff party for the service in the University Federal Credit Union Student Learning Commons in the PCL at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14.
