The University of Texas Libraries has launched two services to make access to its vast informational resources even easier and more convenient.
“Pick It Up” is the rebranding of the former Materials Retrieval service that enables patrons to request eligible materials — books and audiovisual items — to be delivered to the branch library of their choice for pickup. The familiar “Request” link in the header of the catalog record for a given item has been replaced by the new “Pick It Up” option.
“Get A Scan” is a new service that enables Faculty, Students and Staff to receive a scan via a PDF download from the ILS server of an article or book chapter from the eligible print collections of the Libraries by using the Interlibrary Services Article/Chapter request form. Users can request the service of applicable items using the “Get A Scan” button in the right side of the catalog record, or directly through the InterLibrary Services site.
Both services were conceived with the purpose of meeting the developing expectations of modern users and in response to the influence of increased ease of access to information provided by the internet.
