Position Available: Starting July 2nd, 2018. Subject to renewal each semester.
Work schedule: Monday through Friday, between 9am and 6pm, as arranged with supervisor for a total average of 20 hours per week (30 hours per week for graduate students not enrolled for the summer semester).
Duties: Conduct quality control and quality assurance, organize, describe, and provide access to digital collection materials from partner organizations. Liaise with partner organizations to provide training and general assistance. Conduct research, support grant-administration, and other tasks related to the implementation of the “Cultivating a Latin American Post-Custodial Praxis” grant and formalization of the Benson’s post-custodial work. Test digital tools and platforms to help enhance the Benson’s post-custodial workflows. Assist with managing the Benson’s web archive program using (Archive-It) and legacy digital collections. Support outreach efforts on the Benson’s post-custodial work, including managing social media presence. Provide reference services. Assist with other projects as needed.
Required: A current graduate student in the School of Information, Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies, or Department of Spanish and Portuguese, enrolled for at least 9 semester hours during the spring and fall semesters and at least 3 hours during the summer session. Student must be in good academic standing.
Preferred: Experience working in or with archives, digital assets, metadata, digital repository platforms; extensive computer literacy, research and communication skills; attention to detail; multilingual language proficiency – Spanish preferable. Interest in international human rights issues and knowledge of the Latin American region. Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative working both alone and in a dynamic team environment.
Working Conditions: Regular indoor work environment.
- For enrolled graduate students: $1,063 per month. In-state tuition. Some benefits apply. TRB is not available for this position.
- For graduate students not enrolled in the summer: $12.25 per hour during the summer semester. No benefits apply. TRB is not available for this position
