Global Studies Team

The University of Texas has a long-established interest and investment in the international education and global awareness of its students, faculty and staff, an interest that is increasingly relevant in today’s “global society.” The UT Libraries’ Global Studies Subject Team strives to support this interest by developing dynamic collections that represent, document and preserve research about all areas of the world.

In supporting UT’s departments, research centers and affiliated communities, the Libraries’ Global Studies Collections draw upon area studies-, international studies- and global studies-approaches to learning about the world. As such, the collections are broad in disciplinary scope, demonstrate multilinguality, and respond to evolving scholarly communications markets.

Materials from and about all geographic areas of the world are actively collected (with the notable exception of Southeast Asia). All world languages are represented, with attention given to materials in languages currently taught on campus. Notable subject foci include cinema, environment, geology, gender, history, human rights, language & literature, public policy, and religion. All formats (print, electronic, audio/visual) are pursued and supported.
