Professor Winship called the meeting to order, and began the meeting with a general discussion of President Power's e-mail response to the committee's report on issues in the libraries. It was decided that Professor Winship will respond generally to the President's e-mail.

Professor Hazeltine was selected as committee chair for 2007–2008.

There was a brief discussion about the number of research professors on the staff.

Fred Heath reported that the possibility of an addition to the Library Storage Facility on the PRC campus is on track and is intended to house low-use materials.

Discussion turned to the Google partnership with the UT Libraries, and Dennis Dillon reported on that initiative and its importance to faculty, students, staff and the library itself. Initial focus of the collection digitization efforts will be on the unique Latin American materials in the Benson Latin American Collection.

It was decided that the next committee meeting will be in March, the week before spring break. The committee plans to continue discussion of the Google Books project, while also taking up issues surrounding off-site storage of library materials.

Meetings will also be held in April and May. At the April meeting, the committee will discuss the new on-line library system that is in development; in May, the committee will visit one of the branch libraries.
