The University of Texas at Austin Staff Excellence Awards and Outstanding Supervisor Award Program honors and recognizes the invaluable contributions of eligible non-teaching employees whose outstanding dedication, competence, conscientious performance, excellent customer service or ingenuity has had a significant impact on the continuing success of The University. Each year thirty individuals receive the Staff Excellence Award and two individuals receive the Outstanding Supervisor Award. Each individual is awarded $1,500.00.
All non-teaching staff at The University of Texas at Austin who have held at least half-time appointments for two or more years are eligible. Nominations for both classified employees and administrative and professional personnel are encouraged by the President of the University and the Excellence Awards Committee. Criteria for staff excellence awards: contributes to and demonstrates a commitment to the University's Core Purpose and Values; significantly improves customer service or increases customer satisfaction for specific University customers; significantly improves a work process or system or has significantly increased the efficiency of an operation or unit; demonstrates an exceptional ability to foster collaboration, communication and cooperation among colleagues and University constituents; performs at a level above and beyond normal job requirements. Criteria for outstanding supervisor awards: contributes to and demonstrates a commitment to the University's Core Purpose and Values; creates a positive and motivating work environment; maintains open lines of communication within the department and throughout the University; encourages professional development; demonstrates fairness and equity in resolving issues; remains open to feedback concerning his or her own performance.
Award recipients are notified in April and are honored formally at The University's Staff Recognition Program in late April or May. In addition, the award recipients from the University of Texas Libraries are honored at the Libraries Staff Recognition Reception in May.
