The Harold W. Billings Staff Honors Award recognizes outstanding work performance by staff members whose resourcefulness, dedication and ability help navigate the University of Texas Libraries through often uncharted seas.
Staff Honors Award recipients have the opportunity to select a book title to be added to the Libraries collections; the book will bear the recipient's name on the Staff Honors bookplate. Staff honorees also receive a framed commemorative Staff Honors Award bookplate, a letter of appreciation and special acknowledgment at the annual Staff Recognition Reception.
In August 2003, on the occasion of the retirement of the University of Texas Libraries long-time director, the endowment was renamed the Harold W. Billings Staff Honors Endowment.
Staff Honors Monthly Achievement Award
From 1993 to 2003 the Staff Honors Monthly Achievement Award honored library staff members and recognized distinguished job performance by a classified or hourly staff member during or immediately preceding the month of nomination.
Staff Honors Long-Term Contributions Award
From 1993 to 2002 the Staff Honors Long-Term Contributions Award honored library staff members and acknowledged sustained work excellence by a long-time classified staff employee.
Director's Staff Honors Award
From 1995 through 2002 the Director's Staff Honors Program honored professional librarians, classified staff and other individuals who made significant contributions to General Libraries programs and services.
