Margo Gutierrez is Mexican American and Latino studies Librarian at the University of Texas at Austin 's General Libraries since 1987. A native of Tucson, Arizona, she obtained her B.A. and M.L.S degrees from the University of Arizona and an M.A. in Latin American Studies at UT Austin. Prior to joining UT, she worked in the reference departments of the University of Arizona Library and the Blumberg Memorial Library of Texas Lutheran College. She has numerous publications to her credit, among them The Border Guide: Institutions and Organizations of the United States-Mexico Borderlands (CMAS Books, 1992) which was written in collaboration with her husband, Milton Jamail, and the Encyclopedia of the Mexican American Civil Rights Movement (Greenwood, 2000), co-authored with Matt S. Meier. In 2000, she was named Librarian of the Year by REFORMA, the National Association to Promote Library and Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish Speaking.
