    They are being called the Greatest Generation suffering the Great Depression and fighting World War II. But today, we are focusing in on the U.S. Latinos and Latinas of the Greatest Generation and an effort to preserve their stories for future generations. Since 1999, the U.S. Latino & Latina World War II Oral History Project at the University of Texas at Austin has been collecting these personal histories. Maggie Rivas-Rodriguez, a professor of journalism at UT, is heading the project.
