Excellent magazine about women's issues!!!!! I have been subscribed since 1995.
It covers national and international issues. And with time it has become more
inclusive on the issues of women of color. For many years it had no ads. There is a
section in the magazine called "No comment" where subscribers submit misogynist and
chauvinists ads, including the date and magazine they were published in, and an
address to write to the publishers about why this ads are offensive. Thanks to
readers writing to the publishing companies, a number of ads have been removed.
Today it does but there are not commercial ads but educational, or ads for other
women organizations. Today it is owned by the Feminist Majority, an activist
organization, they keep an eye on Washington for our rights and distribute the
magazine to women in jail among other things.
This ground-breaking collection of essays brings together some of the best
scholarship on the cultural intersections of race and masculinity, understood as a
pluralistic concept. Future work in the areas of gender construction, masculinity,
and racial identity will continue to depend on this volume's intellectual
