AUSTIN, Texas (November 12, 2009) – A popular annual program to highlight and provide services of use to students in the final leg of the academic semester has returned to the University of Texas Libraries.

"Crunch Time" will return to the Perry-Castañeda Library (PCL) November 17-19, featuring giveaways, useful information materials and additional staff for assisting student inquiries.

AUSTIN, Texas—The Fine Arts Library and the College of Fine Arts at The University of Texas at Austin will host the public opening of a recently assembled collection of art and artifacts at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, in the Fine Arts Library in the Doty Fine Arts Building.

The event is free and open to the public.

The Center for Mexican American Studies (CMAS), in partnership with the Center for Women's and Gender Studies, the Center for Women's and Gender Studies, the Gender and Sexuality Center, and the Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection, University of Texas Libraries, will host a screening and discussion of the film, "ALTAR. Cruzando Fronteras, Building Bridges." A documentary film directed by Paola Zaccaria and Daniele Basilio (2009).  Professor Paola Zaccaria from the University of Bari (Italy) will be attending the event.

AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas Libraries announces an amendment of its agreement with Google Inc. to create digital copies of books from the Libraries' collections.

AUSTIN, Texas – University of Texas Libraries Director and Vice Provost Fred Heath has been elected chair of the Board of Directors of the Center for Research Libraries (CRL), a consortium of North American university, college and independent research libraries.

Heath succeeds Yale University Librarian Alice Prochaska, and will serve along with representatives of such prominent universities as Emory, Michigan and Duke, among others. He will serve a one-year term and is eligible for re-election.

AUSTIN, Texas – The Perry-Castañeda Library at The University of Texas at Austin has extended its hours for an additional period in advance of spring semester final exams.

Beginning at 7:00am on May 1 and extending through the last day of final exams on May 19, the PCL will be open for twenty-four hours. During this period, only visitors with a valid University identification will be admitted to the PCL between the hours of 10:00pm-7:00am.

On Thursday April 16, at 6:00pm, the University of Texas Libraries presents “When Barbara Jordan Talked, We Listened - A Panel Discussion," produced by the Texas Politics Project (TPP) in the College of Liberal Arts.
