Biographical Note

Bridgette Schleicher Beinecke was born in Pecos Texas in 1951 to Meredythe and Paul Durckel, who transferred to Houston, Texas from Oakland, California for a temporary work assignment.

Beinecke received her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Texas in 1977 and then completed a postgraduate apprenticeship in Seismic Design and Arctic Engineering at the University of Alaska. After the completion of the three-year architectural apprenticeship, she worked in Houston for Pierce, Goodwin & Alexander; Texas Commerce Bancshares; Texas Children’s Hospital, and Linbeck Construction. She moved to Newburyport, Massachusetts in 1993 and worked for Piper Properties LLC, a real estate development company, adapting 19th century buildings for commercial and multifamily residential use. In 1998 she became the Project Architect for the Restoration and Renewal of the Christian Science Publishing House in Boston and oversaw the planning of this project for two years.

In 2000, Beinecke relocated to Austin, Texas and took a sabbatical from practicing architecture and project management until 2007. She currently provides preservation planning and project management consulting services to commercial and institutional clients. She has served on the boards of nonprofit organizations and was a founding member of the board of a charter school in Newburyport, MA.

She is the mother of two sons and the widow of Walter Beinecke, Jr.
