Fannie Lee Denman was born in San Angelo on October 20, 1915 to Margaret Spence and Henry Mitchell Harvin. She was known to family and friends by her nickname, “Flea.” She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Texas before marrying Leroy G. Denman, Jr and moving to San Antonio. After living in Argentina and Guatemala during World War II, the Denmans returned to San Antonio. Flea worked with volunteer organizations to improve San Antonio’s public health, cultural and educational institutions. She served on the board that built the first Children’s Hospital and helped develop the Cerebral Palsy Center. Fannie Lee Denman died in San Antonio on December 13, 2006.
