Historical Note

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) began in 1979 when five students formed the University Center Promotions Board (UCPC). In 1980, the UCPC changed its name to the University Center Program Council and planned university center programs and activities and received funding through the university center fee. In 1991, the University Center Promotions Board changed its name to the Campus Activities Board and expanded its programs to include all campus-wide activities. The Campus Activities Board is currently a student-led organization that organizes campus activities and events for UTSA students, most notably organizing Fiesta UTSA in April and BestFest in October. Other CAB programs include weekly coffee house events, Friday and Saturday night movies, and late-night programming such as poetry jams, comedians, magicians, and musicians. The Campus Activities Board continues to receive funding through the university center fee which is paid by students each semester. The Campus Activity Board is directed by a staff advisor, the Assistant Director of Student Activities for Student Programs. CAB student members serve on one of six committees with each committee led by a Committee Chair, Assistant Chair, and Program Assistant.
