Historical Note

The University of Texas at San Antonio was established in 1969. As of 2009, the University comprises three campuses: UTSA's Main Campus in northwest San Antonio, its Downtown Campus, and the HemisFair Park Campus, which includes the Institute of Texan Cultures museum.

Scope and Content Note

Web collection of student organizations' web sites crawled by the University of Texas at San Antonio using the Internet Archive’s Archive-It web crawler beginning in 2009. The collection includes web sites, blogs, Facebook pages, Flickr pages, MySpace pages, and Twitter feeds created by a variety of student organizations at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Included are close to 200 web sites created by 150 student groups, including web sites of Greek organizations, pre-professional societies, science/engineering clubs, business clubs, cultural/ethnic groups, religious groups, team club sports, military organizations, political groups, class of 20-- web sites, UTSA chapters of national organizations, honor societies, recreational clubs, student-run publications, advocacy groups, literary societies, and dance/music groups at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Also included are links to previous web crawls preformed by the Internet Archive between 2001-2008 for selected student web sites. Full text search of web collection and browsing of the collection's videos are available at the Archive-It web site.

MASSO's mission is to encourage cultural pride, cultural awareness, and community activism among UTSA's Mexican American, Chicana/o, and Latina/o student body, by learning of the social, cultural, and academic accomplishments of fellow Chicanas/os, Mexicana/os and Latina/os both in the U.S. and other parts of the world.. The organization was formed in an effort to unite the faculty, staff, and students of the Mexican American Studies (MAS) program at UTSA.

Multicultural Greek Council
The Multicultural Greek Council serves as a governing body to create and maintain high standards in the life of culturally-based fraternities and sororities by addressing, managing, and creating strategic programming, to unify organizations involved in MGC, upholding higher education, providing community services, improving leadership and have a positive relationship between MGC, other Greek Councils, the university student body and administration, thus improving campus life.
