    <head>Historical Note</head><p>The Office of Institutional Effectiveness, a division of the Vice Provost for Accountability and Institutional Effectiveness, provides logistical support and information for institutional planning, accreditation, assessment, and accountability. The Office of Institutional Effectiveness Division was originally established in 1975 as the Office of Institutional Studies to provide institutional information and statistics for internal administration and reporting to external  agencies.  The Office of Institutional Studies was led by Joseph Wilkerson (1975-1980),  Margaret Drake (1980-1982), and Terri Leal (1989-2004) and Gerry Dizinno (2004-present) and through the 1990-2000s went through a series of name changes, referred to as the Office of Institutional Analysis, Office of Institutional Effectiveness, and the Office of Institutional Research.   The office is responsible for providing statistical data and analysis about UTSA's performance and effectiveness and generates surveys, reports, and datasets about UTSA for self-reporting to state, federal and regional agencies such as the Southern Association of Colleges and Universities (SACS). </p><p>Source: <title render="doublequote">UTSA Vice Provost for Accountability and Institutional Effectiveness,</title><extref href="http://provost.utsa.edu/vpaie/" show="new" actuate="onrequest">

    <head>Scope and Content Note</head><p>The records of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness include reports, surveys, data sets, correspondence, administrative files, and assorted subject files from 1973-2005. A majority of the records are reports created by the Office of Institutional Effectiveness for external reporting agencies and  internal surveys of students, faculty, and staff for university administration. Included in the collection are self-study reports for the Southern Association of Colleges and Universities (SACS), Higher Education General Information Survey (HEGIS) reports, Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) reports, Office of Civil Rights (OCR) survey  reports, reports created for the Texas Legislative Budget Board, and yearly UTSA factbook and academic profile data reports. The records also include numerous student and faculty retention, satisfaction, and graduation (students) surveys.  The collection also includes a majority of the institutional data reports used to generate university reports and surveys. A majority of the administrative and subject files are from the office  of Terri Leal,  former director the Office of Institutional Effectiveness between 1989-2004. The records are organized into eight series: I. <emph render="bold">Surveys</emph> (4.5 ft.), II. <emph render="bold">Reports</emph> (4.5 ft.), III. <emph render="bold">Southern Association of Colleges and Universities accreditation files</emph> (8 ft.),  IV.  <emph render="bold">Institutional data</emph> (3 ft.), V. <emph render="bold">Administrative files</emph> (2 ft.),  VI. <emph render="bold">Committees</emph> (1 ft.), VII. <emph render="bold">Subject files</emph> (3 ft.), and VIII. <emph render="bold"> Information requests</emph> (1 ft.).</p>
