In 1997 the Center for the Study of Women and Gender (CSWG) and the Archives for Research on Women and Gender (ARWG) initiated an oral history project to go along with that year's Women's History Week then, which was "Telling Our Stories/Contando Nuestras Historias." Utilizing an advisory board , the CSWG and ARWG chose a select number of San Antonio women who have made significant contributions to the community.
CSWG contact was Linda Schott, Director. ARWG contact was Jill Jackson, Archivist. Interviews were conducted by Ruthe Winegarten, oral historian and author, and Tori Beckham-Wilson, historian and author.
The collection consists of correspondence, biographical information, release forms, oral history recordings on audiocassette and interview transcripts.
The interviews were conducted February-July of 1997.
Original audiovisual materials are closed to patron use. Some use copies are available in the collection.
This collection is housed at UTSA's Main Campus and must be accessed via the John Peace Library Special Collections reading room. To request access, please use the Collections Request Form.
