Creator Abstract: |
The Women's Studies Institute at the University of Texas at San Antonio opened in January 2003. The Institute functions as a research center, also developing curricula in women's studies and performing community outreach activities. In 2007, the Institute established the Bachelor of Arts in Women's Studies degree program. The Institute sponsors lectures and conferences, hosts Women’s History Month celebrations, and works toward the furthering of Women's Studies curriculum development. |

The Women's Studies Institute (WSI) at the University of Texas at San Antonio opened in January 2003. The WSI functions as a research center, also developing curricula in women's studies and performing community outreach activities. In 2007, the WSI established the Bachelor of Arts in Women's Studies degree program (a major offered by the College of Liberal and Fine Arts). The WSI sponsors lectures and conferences, hosts Women’s History Month celebrations, and works toward the furthering of Women's Studies curriculum development.

Accession 2004-061 comprises posters from Women's History Week, 1986 through 2004.
Accession 2004-067 comprises documentation of the Committee for the Advancement of Women and various subcommittees, the development of the women and gender studies minor, and assorted records pertaining to grant administration.
Materials Collected by UTSA Archives and Special Collections, 2001-2006 include records of the UTSA Women's Studies Curriculum Committee, a copy of Women's Studies Institute News [newsletter of the Women's Studies Institute], and a copy of a letter from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board approving the creation of a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Women's Studies.
This collection is housed at UTSA's HemisFair Park Campus, though off-site access is also available at UTSA's John Peace Library.
