The collection spans the years 1973 through 2009 and includes UTSA serials, faculty and staff directories, graduate and undergraduate course catalogs, class schedules, brochures, invitations, a student handbook, and a faculty handbook.
The University Serials and Journals Collection (UA 1.02.01) includes the newsletters and magazines UTSA Bulletin (entitled The Discourse for its first two issues), Roadrunner, Quarterly, Sombrilla, and printouts of the online newsletters UTSA Update and @UTSA. Note: Serials and journals produced by students (e.g., the Paisano and student telephone directories) are maintained as part of the Student-produced Publications and Newsletters Collection (UA 2.02).
Directories (UA 1.02.02) includes faculty and staff directories, as well as some faculty/staff/student directories. Directories vary from year to year, but typically include an academic calendar, a list of executive officers, deans, and division directors, and an alphabetical list of all faculty and staff of the University. Also included are departmental directories, which are alphabetical directories of all the university's departments.
Course Catalogs (UA 1.02.03) includes graduate course catalogs and undergraduate course catalogs.
Class Schedules (UA 1.02.04) includes class schedules for UTSA classes. Beginning in 1976, class schedules also included registration instructions. Includes copies of the Schedule of Downtown Course Offerings, Spring and Fall 1993, when classes were offered in downtown San Antonio at the Institute of Texan Cultures. Also includes a course schedule for classes held at the Cypress Tower Building in 1994.
Faculty Handbooks (UA 1.02.05) includes two UTSA faculty handbooks. The first handbook was created around 1973. The second contains materials dated 1992-1998. The 1990s handbook is comprised of 12 sections: I. History, Mission, Organization and Governance; II. Faculty Personnel Policies; III. Faculty Rights, Responsibilities and Workload; IV. Teaching and Faculty-Student Relationships; V. Services Available to Faculty; VI. Library and Information Technology; VII. Research; VIII. Compensation and Benefits; IX. Public Relations and Speakers; X. University-Related Organizations; XI. Recreational Activities; and XII. Campus Map.
Information Bulletins (UA 1.02.06) includes the publication Bulletin of the University of Texas at San Antonio, alternately titled UTSA Information, from 2000 to 2007. This publication contains information formerly included in undergraduate and graduate course catalogs. Hard copies are available for the 2000-2001 to 2005-2006 publications, at which point the publication was no longer printed. Electronic copies are available for the 2005-2006 to 2007-2008 publications.
Student Guides and Graduate Bulletins (UA 1.02.07) includes the publication Student Guide, which contains information pertaining to the University's alma mater, mascot, school colors, academic programs, student services, campus activities, and policies; as well as the Graduate Bulletin, a similar publication.
Brochures and Other Promotional Materials (UA 1.02.08) includes brochures advertising UTSA and other promotional materials used to advertise the university and its functions. These brochures are not attributed to particular university departments.
