    <head>Historical Note</head><p>Originally named the Women’s Auxiliary of the San Antonio Bar Association, the group changed its name to the San Antonio Bar Auxiliary in 1993.</p><p>
The purpose of the San Antonio Bar Auxiliary is to encourage awareness of the legal system, participate in community projects, and to provide funds for the San Antonio Bar Auxiliary Foundation.  The work of the 150-member San Antonio Bar Auxiliary include giving courthouse tours to schools and other community groups; awarding annual scholarships to law students and legal assistants; delivering wine and cheese baskets to judges who help with the tours; serving lunch to courthouse staff on appreciation day; and providing refreshments to pro bono volunteers at the community justice clinics each month.  They also distribute “Now You Are 18” booklets to high school senior government classes and “Lone Star Waves Proudly” to elementary schools.

    <head>Scope and Content Note</head><p>The San Antonio Bar Auxiliary  records include administrative material, correspondence, financial records, reports, newsletters and yearbooks.  The collection spans the years 1975-1994, with the bulk of the material dating from 1985-1994.  Original order and folder titles have been retained.</p><p>  The collection is divided into three series: <emph render="bold">Administrative</emph>, <emph render="bold">Events</emph>, and <emph render="bold">Printed Material</emph>.  The Administrative series includes correspondence, minutes, reports and financial material.  The Events series includes materials that document annual fundraisers and dinner/dance events.  The Printed Material series includes notification reports, newsletters, and yearbooks dating from 1984-1992.  There is also a photograph of the original founders dated 1988.  Plastic page protectors and album materials were removed for preservation purposes. </p>
