A Guide to the Lu Elsie Jones Papers, 1937-1989 (bulk 1981-1988)
Biographical NoteLu Elsie Jones was actively involved in women's organizations in San Antonio between 1961 and 1989. She was a member of the Women of the Church of Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church, the San Antonio Musical Club, the Woman’s Breakfast Club, the American Association of University Women--San Antonio Branch, and the Selini Study Group. She also belonged to the San Antonio Council of Delphian Chapters and participated on various seminar boards throughout her years there. She also belonged to the Morning Interior Decorating Group of the American Association of University Women--San Antonio Branch. She is referred to as Lu Elsie Nagel and Mrs. Clair L. Jones in many of the yearbooks in this collection. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and Content NoteThe collection spans the years 1937-1989 (with the bulk of the material from 1981-1988) and documents the roles Lu Elsie Jones had in the organizations she belonged to. The bulk of the materials are yearbooks from the different women's organizations she belonged to. There are yearbooks from Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church, American Association of University Women, The Morning Interior Decorating Group, San Antonio Musical Club, the Women's Breakfast Club of San Antonio, and Selini study group. There is a scrapbook from 1937-1943, rosters, invitations from social events, and a commitment book from Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church.
