Historical Note
The Texas Lesbian Conference was begun in 1988 by a small group of women in Dallas, Texas as a way for lesbians to network, learn and share. The yearly conference was the only statewide conference of it's kind at the time. The conferences featured speakers and workshops on coming out, dating, network building, maintaining relationships, health issues, political activism, spirituality, legal issues and financial matters. Conference location rotated between Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.
Scope and Content Note
The bulk of the collection documents the yearly conferences held throughout the state and consists of correspondence, meeting minutes, notes, questionnaires, programs, and research materials. Planning of the 1990 and 1994 conferences is more heavily documented with limited materials from 1993 and only the program from 1992. Also included are the organization's bylaws, select financial documentation and several souvenir t-shirts.
