Biographical Note

Ashley W. Fly (1855-1919) moved to Galveston in 1876 as the Chair of Anatomy at Texas Medical College and Hospital and later became Professor of Anatomy and Clinical Surgery. He was elected Mayor of Galveston in June of 1893, was re-elected in 1897 and ran for the office again in 1899 but lost.
