Historical Note

The History of Child Health Services at the University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston, Texas was written by Harold Levine for the dedication of the Children’s Hospital in 1992. Harold Levine obtained much of the information from personal interviews, department reports and files, and documents supplied by C.W. Daeschner.

The collection is divided into three series: Publication; Individual Chapters; and Research Documentation. Chapter titles contained in Series II include: Medical School and Department: The Early Years; Leadership in the Modern Department of Pediatrics; Distinguished Personalities; Modern Hospital Facilities; Administrative Management; Patient Care; Education; Research; Community Outreach; and Miscellaneous Research and Documentation.

For preservation reasons, the collection has been re—foldered and re-boxed using acid free materials. The collection is organized by main publication then chapters of the publication. Each series is arranged alphabetically.
