Biographical Note

Dr. David R. Jones attended college at Davidson College and Medical School at Duke University. He did an internship at Lackland Air Force Base and became an AF flight surgeon. He did his residency in preventive medicine-aerospace at US Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine and obtained an MPH at Harvard as part of the residency. Dr. Jones became a diplomat of the American Board of Preventive Medicine in aerospace medicine. He served in Vietnam and accumulated 280 hour of flying in combat aircraft. He then did a psychiatry residency at Wilford Hall and served as the chief of neuropsychiatry at the USAFSAM. He also was a consultant to NASA for astronaut selection. He published broadly and served as Editor-in-Chief of Aviat Space Environ Med for many years. Dr. Jones spent a total of 28 years in the Air Force and accumulated 2000 hours of flight time in 35 different aircraft. He has received a host of awards including many from the Aerospace Medical Association. At UTMB, Dr. Jones has served as a guest lecturer.
