BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

1894 Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
1916 Received B.S. degree from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
1918 Received both M.S. and M.D. degrees from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
1921 Married Anna Harriett Williams.
1925-31 Assistant and Associate Professor at Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana.
1931 Joined UTMB faculty
1933 Obtained the first private research grant at UTMB, Galveston, Texas.
1944 At his suggestion, the Inter-American Cardiological Society was founded.
1964 Received the Jeweled Key Award of the American College of Cardiology and the first Distinguished Service Service Award of the Texas Medical Association.
1965 Designated as the first Ashbel Smith Professor of the University of Texas Medical Branch.
1968 Received a medal and citation from the Surgeon General of the U.S. Army.
1971 Received the Distinguished Service Award of the American Medical Association.
1975 Died in Del Rio, Texas, December.

The George R. Herrmann Student Notebooks, (1915-1923), consists of the notebooks George R. Herrmann, M.D., Ph.D. made while at the University of Michigan. They date from 1915-1923.
