Historical Background

The Law Wives Club of the University of Texas School of Law was formally established in 1947 by several wives of UT Law School students to facilitate camaraderie and address the interests of law students' spouses. The club functioned in both social and philanthropic capacities, organizing social events for club members, Law School students, faculty, and staff, fundraising for scholarships and Austin welfare resources, and volunteering for city-wide charitable organizations. The club disbanded in 1976 after nearly thirty years of steady membership.
