Historical Background

The Uniform Fraudulent Transfer Act (UFTA), completed by the Uniform Law Commissioners in 1984, revised the Uniform Fraudulent Conveyance Act of 1918. It provides a creditor with the means to reach assets a debtor has transferred to another person to keep them from being used to satisfy a debt. As a result of a series of amendments in 2014, UFTA has been renamed the Uniform Voidable Transactions Act (UTVA).*
