Dr. Gustavo E. and Marcia S. Montes Papers
Dr. Gustavo Montes obtained three degrees, including his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, and Marcia (Schattenstein) Montes obtained her Master's degree in English Education at University of Texas, Austin, in the 1930s and 1940s. Dr. Montes worked with the Inter-American Development Bank in 1974-84 and was Vice President of the Venezuelan subsidiary of Northern Natural Gas Company of Omaha, Nebraska, in 1968-1969. The Montes lived and worked in Lagos, Nigeria in 1970-72, and Dr. Montes worked in Algiers, Algeria in the first half of 1974.
A more complete biographical sketch of the Montes will be forthcoming as the collection is accessioned and processed.
The Dr. Gustavo E. and Marcia S. Montes Papers currently include photographs of their time at the University of Texas at Austin, as well as photographs from various destinations where they and their family traveled, lived, and worked. Future additions to the collection will include correspondence, photographs, and other documents of the Montes work and family life, and related artifact materials. Additions are onging; contact the Benson Collection archivist for further information.
