In February 1980, seeing that the there was inadequate coverage of Latino issues in the mainstream media, Charles A. Ericksen, his wife Sebastiana Ericksen-Mendoza, and son Hector Ericksen-Mendoza, founded the Hispanic Link News Service. Syndicated throughout the Americas, the Hispanic Link features opinion, analysis, and news columns written from a Latino perspective. The Hispanic Link Weekly Report, a newsweekly covering Hispanic issues, was started in 1983.

The records of the Hispanic Link Weekly Report are arranged chronologically by volume and issue, with one file for each issue. Each files contains a combination of the listed issue, any early drafts of the issue, and supporting documentation such as articles, brochures, clippings, correspondence, newsletters, periodicals, and reports used toward the creation of that issue.
NOTE: The Hispanic Link Weekly Report Records are stored in an off-site storage facility. Access must be requested in advance in order to transport the requested materials for use in the Benson Collection rare books and manuscripts reading room.
