John Persakis Photographs, 1924-1967
Biographical Note[Biographical note is being processed] Return to the Table of Contents Scope and Contents NoteUnidentified photographs taken by photographer John Persakis in Bahia, Brazil, diary, notebooks, and scrapbook. Materials date from 1924-1967; all photographs are undated. The collection measures 11 linear inches, plus one oversize box, and is arranged into three series: Documents, Photographs, and Oversize Photographs. The first series, Documents, contains a diary, three notebooks with handwritten information, and a scrapbook containing clippings and photographs related to Brazil. Series two, Photographs, contains images of people, buildings, and scenery. The photographs in folder 1 were grouped together under the label "Lost City." The photographs in folders 2-4 were originally in the same frame and have been kept together to show this connection. The other photographs have been divided by the subject of the images. The third series consist of Oversize Photographs. All but the first of these are duplicates of photographs found in series two. Note: Photographs are not in mylar sleeves.
