Biographical Note

The Latin American Research Review (LARR) is an interdisciplinary journal that publishes original research and surveys of current research on Latin America and the Caribbean, including Latin American history, race relations, socio-economic studies on Latin America, studies of fine arts and research directive data.. The objective of the Latin American Research Review is to achieve greater and more systematic communication of research among individuals and institutions concerned with studies in Latin America.

LARR was founded in 1965 by a consortium of U.S. universities. When the Latin American Studies Association (LASA) was established the following year, LARR and LASA merged, with the journal becoming the association's official scholarly journal. Starting at UT-Austin in 1965, the editorship moved to the University of North Carolina in 1974, and then to the University of New Mexico in 1982 before returning to the University of Texas at Austin in 2003.

Galley proofs, page proofs, manuscripts, research documents, correspondence, and publication files of the Latin American Research Review. Materials date from 1963-1971 and measure 22 linear feet. The collection is arranged into five series: Manuscripts, Correspondence, Publication Files, Research Files, and Subject Index Cards.

The first series, Manuscripts, consists of manuscript copies, galley proofs, page proofs, research inventory manuscripts, news section manuscripts, and manuscripts of articles submitted by various authors.

Series two, Correspondence, is divided into two subseries: general correspondence and classified correspondence. This series contains correspondence with various universities, organizations, and individuals.

Publication Files, the third series, contains correspondence, faculty publications, and various manuscripts.

The fourth series, Research Files, is comprised of correspondence and various documents related to research projects.

Series five, Subject Index Cards, includes 5x7 and 3x5 index cards with reference information on various subjects.
