Ramiro Sánchez Papers, 1973-1981
Biographical SketchBanker and historian. Born Sept. 25, 1908, in Laredo, Texas, where he attended school and later worked for many years at the Laredo National Bank, serving as bank president from 1968 to 1973. Active in many community service and business organizations. Wrote on the history of Laredo. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and Contents NoteConsists largely of copies of Sánchez' manuscripts; includes some ephemera and documents relating to Laredo, Texas, and Sánchez' activities. Contains a typescript of his Frontier odyssey: early life in a Texas Spanish town. Also includes several articles written for the Laredo Times, notes for lectures, unpublished articles, and a personal account of a vacation in Canada. Contains documents relating to Sánchez' investiture into the Order of Isabel la Católica and the declarations of sister city status for Laredo, Texas, and Laredo, Spain. A copy of a letter written by Sánchez to Pres. Luis Echeverría of Mexico on the topic of international commerce in Laredo also appears. Consists of two series: 1. Literary productions, and 2.
