<p>A New Deal agency which operated 1937-1942, formerly the Resettlement Administration (1935-1937). The Historical Section within the FSA documented agriculture, industry, and social life through photographs.</p></bioghist>

<scopecontent encodinganalog="520"><head>Scope and Contents Note</head>
<p>Images show Mexican or Mexican American agricultural workers and their families in the American Midwest. Russell Lee's photographs were taken in Minnesota during September and October of 1937; John Vachon's photographs were taken in Saginaw County, Michigan, in August, 1941. The photographs show migrant agricultural laborers who worked in the sugar beet industry and their families.</p>
<p>Organized in two series: 1. Russell Lee photographs, and 2. John Vachon photographs. Arranged numerically according to LC-assigned numbers.</p>
