<bioghist encodinganalog="545"><head>Biographical Sketch</head>
<p>Community activist in Austin, Texas, area. Born in Tamaulipas, Mexico, in 1887; emigrated to Texas in 1920. Active in Mexican American mutual aid societies and in organizations of Mexican nationals in Texas, Cepeda helped organize celebrations of Mexican holidays in Austin and was instrumental in getting a Mexican consul assigned to Austin.</p></bioghist>

<scopecontent encodinganalog="520"><head>Scope and Contents Note</head>
<p>Consists of two series: 1. Eustasio Cepeda papers, and 2. María Guadalupe Ledesma papers.</p>
<p>Contains information about Cepeda and the Mexican American community in Central Texas from about 1919 until the 1950s. Includes correspondence and other documents relating to various organizations, including Sociedad Funeraria de Agricultores "Mariano Escobedo," Cruz Azul Mexicana in Texas, Confederación de Cámaras de Trabajadores Mexicanos en Norte América, Club Anahuac, and Comité Patriótico de las Fiestas Patrias. Some other correspondence relates to Cepeda's protests against discrimination, aid to Mexican nationals, and Mexican consular activities and presence in Texas. Also includes newsclippings, photographs, programs, patriotic pamphlets, poems, songs, and speech notes. A brief biographical sketch and notes by Cepeda's granddaughter, Guadalupe Ledesma, is also included.</p><p></p></scopecontent>
