Scope and Contents Note

The Great Britain Foreign Office Records Related to Brazil is composed of 55 volumes of photocopies, mostly correspondence, documenting British interests in Brazil around the end of the 19th century. The collection is divided into "record groups," the largest of which is   F.O. 13: Brazil that includes general correspondence from 1889-1894. This is similar to the Benson Collection's holding of microfilm titled "General correspondence before 1906: Brazil" from the Great Britain Foreign Office [check the University of Texas Libraries' catalog for location information]. Other record groups include   F.O. 128: Brazil (general correspondence), and documents related to businesses of   Wilson Sons & Co. (a shipping and construction company still active today),   Don Pedro North del Rey Gold Mining Company, Ltd., and   north Brazilian sugar factories.
