Biographical SketchPhotographer Alan Pogue grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. He worked as photojournalist in Austin, Texas. He is known for his photographs of migrant agricultural workers, strikers, protesters, artists, and performers. Pogue's work has been published in books, magazines, and newspapers, and has been shown in several one-man exhibits. Scope and Contents NoteConsists of 29 images (on one contact sheet) of strikers and protesters in Austin, Texas, during the Economy Furniture Company Strike, also known as the Austin Chicano Huelga, 1970. Most images show pickets at the Economy Furniture plant, or marchers in a demonstration. One image shows protesters carrying a banner reading "Austin Chicano Huelga."
