<bioghist encodinganalog="545"><head>Biographical Sketch</head>
<p>Professor of Spanish. Born 1900 in Snohomish, Washington; died 1989 in Austin, Texas. Educated at the University of Mississippi, Acadia University, and Cornell University (Ph.D. 1928). Named Knight of the Order of Isabella in 1927. Professor of Spanish language and literature at Oberlin College, Ohio 1929-1966; department chair 1946-1962. Publications include Spanish drama collection in the Oberlin College Library (1940) and Diccionario de seudonimos literarios espanoles (1977) as well as many textbooks on Spanish grammar
and literature. Rogers resided in Austin from 1970 to 1989, where he contributed to the collections of the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center and was a member of the Chancellor's Council of the University of Texas System.</p></bioghist>

<scopecontent encodinganalog="520"><head>Scope and Contents Note</head>
<p>Ninety black-and-white photographic prints, organized into three series: I. Mexico. II. Venezuela. III. Ignacio Millan photographs, and arranged numerically. Fifty photographs, mostly taken by Rogers and "I. Casasola Foto," depict Mexican church facades, railroad stations, buildings at the University of Mexico and elsewhere in Mexico City, Indian dancers, Guanajuato street scenes and buildings, and assorted views of Mexican scenes and people. Among the Mexican photographs are two of the Franciscan Mission at Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico. Nine photographs of Venezuelan locales include views of Creole Petroleum Corporation operations, sites in Caracas, and Lake Maracaibo. Thirty-one photographs by Ignacio Millán are late-Pictorialist still-lifes and portraits of famous people and other personalities.</p></scopecontent>
