Gerald P. Doyle Collection of "Calligraphy on the Spanish Borderlands," 1975-1997
Biographical SketchGerald P. Doyle was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and attended the University of Notre Dame and Lamar University. As export manager for Beaumont Rice Milles, Doyle developed trade with countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. He later retired to teach Latin in Beaumont. He was a member of the Philosophical Society of Texas and worked on a number of publications by the San Jacinto Museum. He died on 23 February 2000 at the abe of 87. Scope and Contents NoteManuscript drafts, a published catalog, correspondence, printed material, and photographic negatives document the development of the 1976 exhibit "Calligraphy on the Spanish Borderlands" curated by Gerald P. Doyle at the Beaumont Art Museum and the San Jacinto Museum. The bulk of the material consists of photographs and negatives of the exhibit and materials featured in the exhibit panels.
