Biographical Sketch

Rodman C. Rockefeller was co-chairman of the Mexico-U.S. Business Committee. As president (1968-1972) and chief executive (1972-1980) of International Basic Economy Corporation, and chairman of it's successor IBEC Inc., from 1980-1985, Rockefeller was involved with genetic engineering and agribusiness in Mexico, and worked to build closer economic ties between the United States and Latin America. In 1996 Rockefeller was awarded Mexico's Order of the Mexican Aguila Azteca. He was a graduate of Dartmouth College and Columbia University's Graduate School of Business Administration, and was active in the Rockefeller Brother Fund and Rockefeller Financial Services. Rodman C. Rockefeller died on 14 May 2000.

The accession of records from the office of Rodman C. Rockefeller, co-chair of the U.S. Council of the Mexico-U.S. Business Committee until 1994, is organized chronologically following the original arrangement as received at the Benson Collection. The records document meetings, correspondence, and administration of the Mexico-U.S. Business Committee and various sub-committees; press clippings and subject files related to trade between Mexico and the United States; and speeches and written works by Rockefeller.
