Biographical Sketch

Tejana author, poet, and historian Teresa Palomo Acosta was born in 1949. Originally from McGregor, TX, Acosta received a Bachelor's degree in ethnic studies at the University of Texas at Austin and a Master's degree in journalism at Columbia University. Her poetry collections include Passing Time (1984), Nile & Other Poems (1999), and Direct Light Has Fallen Upon Me: Poems, 2003-2011 (2012). She is also the co-author with Ruthe Winegarten of Las Tejanas: 300 Years of History (2003).
