Administrative History of HWNT

The Hispanic Women's Network of Texas is a non-profit organization formed in 1987 to address issues unique to the Hispana population in Texas. Among its founding women were Martha Hinojosa-Nadler, Lena Guerrero, Amalia Rodriguez-Mendoza, Mary Alice Cisneros, Christine Hernandez, and Lupe Ochoa. The HWNT includes chapters in Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Laredo, the Rio Grande Valley, and San Antonio.

Scope and Contents Note

Meeting minutes, publications, conference materials, financial and administrative records, correspondence, photographs, and artifacts, 1987-present, document the founding and activities of the Hispanic Women's Network of Texas (HWNT). The processed part of the collection—materials donated before 2005—currently measures approximately 20 linear feet. Processing has not been completed on subsequent acquisitions, but the entire collection is open for limited research.
