Scope and Contents

The Literary File of American writer and artist Tom Lea consists of 326 items, which include images of Lea, his wife and other family members, and his friends. Also included are photographic reproductions of some of Lea's paintings, images associated with the movie production of his book The Brave Bulls, and a series of photographs he took of the Peleliu landing during World War II.

The photographs are organized in the order in which they were transferred to the Photography Collection, and then by images of Lea, his family and friends, and images associated with his work. Descriptions of images were derived by the archivist based on inscriptions on print versos.

This file forms a part of the Literary Files photography collection, which is comprised of photographs and albums withdrawn from the libraries and/or papers of literary figures and businesses, and generally include portraits and images taken or collected by and/or of those people and businesses.
