Scope and Contents

This collection of correspondence and production material adds to the Peter Owen Ltd. archive previously received at the Ransom Center. Correspondence, 1977-2000, includes letters from Peter Ackroyd, Miguel Asturias, Anna Kavan, Francis King, James Kirkup, Doris Lessing, James Purdy, Jeremy Reed, Muriel Spark, and Peter Vansittart.

The bulk of the collection is book production material from the mid-1990s including corrected drafts and proofs. Authors include Margareta Bergman, Hugo Claus, Albert Cohen, Margaret Crosland, Fabián Dobles, Fakhar Zaman, Salvador Garmendia, Barbara Hardy, Paul Harris, Charles Hobday, Abdullah Hussein, Guy de Maupassant, Jean Métellus, Tim Mitchell, Milorad Pavic, David Powell, James Purdy, Jeremy Reed, Peter Vansittart, Edith Wharton, and Iwo and Pamela Zaluski.
