Historical Note

The School of Undergraduate Studies oversees the components of a college education that are shared by all undergraduates at the university. The mission of the school includes the responsibility for sustaining a dynamic common curriculum and enriching the undergraduate experience through innovative advising, career counseling, academic assistance, learning communities, interdisciplinary programs, and undergraduate research.

Hosted by the School of Undergraduate Studies, Honors Colloquium is a free, invite-only event that showcases the best of UT to the state’s most academically talented rising high school seniors. Participants get a unique trial run of college life. Colloquists live in Jester Center residence hall with student mentors who serve as resident assistants, tour guides, and representatives of what it’s like to be a college student. Colloquium participants explore their interests through a choice of 52 small and seven large class sessions from a wide range of topics like galaxies, the American healthcare system, cyber security, and communist dictators taught by UT professors. Colloquists explore the university beyond the classroom through tours and sessions at UT’s labs, libraries, and museums. Additionally, each college and school hosts a luncheon where students have the chance to meet faculty and staff members and learn more about specific programs and degrees.
